About the Internship

IMG_1472An internship with Up Beat Music Therapy offers a unique experience working with many different populations.  Interns spend a significant time alongside the Internship Director observing and co-leading group music therapy sessions in day programs, skilled nursing facilities, dementia units, inpatient psychiatric settings, and facilitating wellness groups in independent living facilities.

Interns receive feedback during individual and group supervision, and participate in discussions following group and individual sessions. The internship experience also includes a multitude of written assignments, readings, and clinical repertoire building experiences.  Interns are also expected to complete a case study or research project in their last three months, and start a pilot program if they so choose.

Prospective interns must have completed undergraduate coursework before starting an internship with Up Beat Music Therapy, and meet the criteria outlined in the application and contract.
